Year 5

smileyWelcome to Year 5! smiley

 

This is our final term together. You have all worked so hard throughout the year and let's make the final stretch a good one! Our topic for this term is The Commonwealth, with a specific focus on Guyana.

 

Upcoming events to look forward to are:

  • A trip to a Forest school
  • Building dens with Reception
  • Sports Day
  • Swimming
  • Tennis 

 

Homework

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned on a Wednesday. 

We would like to remind you that when homework is returned you have a chance of wining  rewards and prizes in Homeworkopoly.

 

Spelling Homework will also be sent home. Please help your child to learn their spellings. We will be asking your child to spell these words throughout the week.

 

Reading books will be sent home on a Friday. Please listen to your child read and ask questions about what they have read. In their book bag, there is a reading record to fill in. Books should be returned when they are finished and will be replaced.

 

PE

Year 5 will have PE on a Tuesday and a Friday.

 

Please make sure your child's PE kit is in school. These can remain in school until half term.

 

Water bottles

Each child should have a water bottle in class at all times.

In English we have been studying narrative poetry. Below is a link to a number of videos of poetry performances and play scripts based upon 'The Highwayman.' The children have recorded them on green screens and added in new settings to match the changes within the narrative. Some of the children also went on to create film trailers based on 'The Highwayman.
