Year 4

smileyWELCOME BACK!smiley

This term we have got a wide range of topics to get our teeth into. We will be exploring the Anglo Saxons and investigating what made Alfred the Great so ‘great.’ Within Science, we will continue to investigate sound and then quickly move onto Living things were we will investigate the human digestive system . We will also be creating our own computer games in Computing (to name just a few topics). If you all return with the keenness and enthusiasm you showed last term, we will have another fun and productive term.

Reading Homework:

All children will have a home/school reader and a school library book but should also be encouraged to read widely, daily, from a range of other reading material at home (Newspapers, magazines, internet articles). Please engage and discuss your child’s reading with them (ask questions) as this will help to develop comprehension and encourage them to form opinions.

Some important information for Year 4 parents/carers:

* P.E. day for 4G is Wednesday and Friday

* PE day for 3/4W is Tuesday and Friday

* Homework will be issued on Monday and should be back in school for Friday

* Children will take part in daily spelling activities relating to their spelling patterns. Your child should continue to learn their spellings at home as this will support them during their daily spelling activities.

Year 4 teachers would like to encourage children to bring in water bottles and a piece of fruit for snack, if they wish.

Book bags should be in school on a Monday where you have the chance to change your home reading book.

Maths, English and Spelling homework will be sent home on a Monday and should be handed back by Friday.

Your attendance is extremely important. There will be the opportunity to earn a raffle ticket each morning if you are in and on time. Plus a bonus 10 raffle tickets if you are in all week.

You can also earn 1 raffle ticket if you are looking super smart all week.

Don't forget to demonstrate our school values too!

* Respect
