Year 3

Happy New Year Year 3!

Hi Year 3,

Welcome back! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

I'm sure that we have all set our New Year's Resolution to try our best in 2015. You have all worked extremely hard so far in Year 3 and I'm really looking forward to see what we can achieve in 2015.

This term is going to be very busy but I know that we have lots of fun along the way. Our topic this term is 'Who were the Early Britons?'. We have lots of exciting activities ahead of us including an archaeology dig; making clay pots and Bronze Age jewellery; solving the mystery of The Great Stonehenge and recognising the impact in which people have upon our environment. We will also be looking at where our food comes from and the use of Fair trade products.
If you have any questions or items that you would like to share about this topic then please share them with us.

Leading on from our most recent genre 'Myths' we will be training our very own class dragon, who has been tormenting the local community!! We will be writing instructions on how to look after the dragon and how to make it fly (as it has an injured tailwink ) Our exciting English work will then move on to writing adventure stories.
We will continue to take part in daily reading and spelling activities.

In Maths we will be recognising and identifying fractions of shapes and amounts. We will then move on to unit of measure. We will continue to enjoy solving problems and number puzzles too. Don't forget to keep on learning your times tables. I wonder who will win our 'times tables race!'

Please remember to have your P.E kit in school. We will take part in two weekly P.E lessons.

Don't forget to continue to work hard and try your best in order to gain our class 'Wise Owl Award' and 'Star of the day!'.

Remember you can earn raffle tickets in class and around the school by showing any of our School Games Values; Determination, Self - Belief, Team work, Honesty, Passion and Respect.
Demonstrating these values to adults and your peers may result in you becoming 'Friendship Champion'.

If you have anything that you would like to share with our class, please do. We would love to display them on our WOW board.

I am looking forward to a really exciting year ahead. Ensure that you come to school every day and on time to make sure that you don't miss out on all of the fun!!

Keep an eye out for any lunch time clubs and after school clubs that you may enjoy, we have a lot to offer!

Keep logging on to look out for updates and new links.

Mrs Whitlock
